Whats with the ethnic tab?
[edit]Latino? Caucasian? Shouldn’t nationalities or ethnic groups be used? This isn’t the USA. DirkjanenBert (talk) 19:03, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- Latino is obviously ridiculous, as is distinguishing Spanish from White in this context. That said, it should list whatever the categories were on the actual census the country used, even if those were nonsensically borrowed from the US. — LlywelynII 03:26, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Sea level rise?
[edit]Malta apparently substantially flooded c. 1000–900 BC eliminating former coastal settlements and separating the previously connected islands:
- Vella, John (January 2023), "Greek Words in Maltese Harbour Toponymy" (PDF), Athens Journal of Mediterranean Studies, vol. 9, pp. 25–52.
This guy is mostly focused on philology but if the geology is sound we should at least mention/link whatever was going on so recently here.
Similarly, he should be solid on the philological parts and the nonreliable 'sources' we have here that MLT referred to the island or to inland Mdina instead of the Grand Harbor are very probably mistaken. Ditto our articles on Mdina and Melite (ancient city) and Template:Phoenician cities and colonies. It's much more likely the name got transferred to the main Roman settlement and modern editors are backdating that to the Phoenician usage. Not sure what the story about ANN for the island(s) themselves is though. — LlywelynII 03:26, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Eh... what?
[edit]What does this article imagine the difference is between "Sources", "Attribution", and "Bibliography"? Figure out which name applies best to all of them and use that. — LlywelynII 08:04, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
Carthaginian control
[edit]Obviously the whole Punic Era is apparently a mess but History of Malta and its sources currently say that Carthage took over by the mid 6th century whereas this article and its sources claim it was the late 4th century. — LlywelynII 08:12, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
